Tuesday Night Pokerpalooza

We had eight runners show up to pitch a few cards, eat a little grub, and consume some adult beverages at the Duck Blind last Tuesday.

From left to right on your radio dial were Ray-Ray, Bobby Dee, Gentleman Jim, Cell, Stamps, Farmer Harry, J-Dawg, and yours truly.

I got involved early, raising from middle position with A-K in a hand of hold 'em, only the second hand of the evening in this $20 buy-in, dealer's choice limit game. I got two callers, including Farmer Harry who came along for the ride with 6-2 offsuit. An A-6-9 flop put me in good shape, but a deuce on the turn gave Harry his first pot of what would be a big night for him.

The very next hand I got big slick again playing hold 'em. Once again I raised and once again Harry called, this time with 5-3 offsuit. On this hand however, he rivered the wheel. I knew then that it could be a looooong night!

Harry also collected the High Hand Jackpot with a straight flush to the ten, and pocketed $72 at the end of play. Ray-Ray won $12, J-Dawg won $6, with Bobby and Jim breaking even. Cell, Stamps and I were the big losers, dropping $25, $30, and $20 respectively.

All in all it was another fun evening with friends. And I got reminded that you can't expect to win every time you take a chair around the felted table.

Till next time, win the flips.

  2. Wow, sounds like Harry had the kind of night we all wish we could have at the casinos.
