Texas Lottery Chronicles- "Cash Club"

Due to overwhelming demand from angerisagift (whose ovaries are on overload), it's time for another epic scratch off lottery ticket update.

The fifth ticket in our chronicle series is titled "Cash Club." The ticket has 12 games, with a grand prize of $100,000. Nice!

Odds of winning a prize on the ticket is about 4-1 against, but I'm 0 for 4 thus far, so this must be the one...right?

The object of Cash Club is to match symbols on any of the games to win the prize. If you get a "club" symbol, your prize doubles, and if you're lucky enough to get a "stack of cash" symbol your prize triples!

Let's get started, shall we?

There are four lines with three games per line, so I'll scratch one line at a time and see if anything hits.

Games 1 thru 3 didn't provide any matches, with $1,000 the largest prize. Where's the "stack of cash" symbol when you need it? On to line 2.

After scratching off the second line, I not only didn't match any symbols in any of the games, I now haven't matched any of the 12 symbols showing.

This is getting depressing.

Line 3 is revealed and now we are a perfect 0-18 on matched symbols. BOO!!!

Time to take a look at our last chance...line 4.

Well, well, well, game 10 finally provides a cash. Two lemons are revealed for a $10 win.

FINALLY!

Hopefully, it's the start of better things to come.

Think I'll take it in ones. Make me feel richer :)

Several games are worth a peek today.

$28 @ -140 on Detroit  (Verlander) over ChiSox (Leesman)
Verlander is 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA this season. Leesman is making his first start of the season. The Tigers have won 3 of their last 5. The Sox have won their last 2 after dropping their previous 4.

Gallardo is 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA this season. Kennedy has struggled and brings a 1-3 record with a 4.12 ERA to the party. The Brewers are an impressive 15-5 on the young season and pitching has led the way.
I've spent a little more time studying the plate umpires for the games and have a few I think are worth betting today.

The OVER is 10-1-1 in the last 12 games with Barry behind the dish.

The Phils counter with Burnett who has struggled in his last 2 starts, posting an 0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA. He has walked 12 hitters in the last 2 games. Vegas or Bust Poker League Wraps Up Another Season

Our Vegas or Bust Poker League wrapped up its second season last Friday. I have been fortunate enough to win first place both times.

I finished third in our April tournament, but the two seats to the WSOP were decided last month, so play was a little looser than in most of our tourneys.

I am tentatively planning to play in Event 56 on June 29th. Ms. Duck and I will arrive in Vegas on June 23rd and head home on July 3rd or 4th. It's longer than we usually stay, but since Ms. Duck has been out of work for over a year, we don't get to come but once a year, and only then if I win the league. (Of course, if my Full Tilt money comes through, that would be enough to fund several trips. Fingers crossed on that one!)

So, if any of you scribes and angle-shooters will be in town the end of June, let me know so we can get together.

Our final league standings are HERE if you're interested.

Till next time, win the flips.

"April Fools Dad!"

When I opened our office Tuesday morning and walked into the reception area, I noticed the door to my office was closed. I never leave it closed, so I started looking around the reception area to see if our computer and other electronics were still there. Nothing seemed to be missing, so I eliminated a break-in and proceeded to s-l-o-w-l-y open the door to my office.

This is what I found.

My first thought was, "What the hell?"

Then I realized it was April Fool's Day and I had been visited by my two kids, who had blown up all the balloons you see here, plus the ones you don't see on the back side of my desk.

It was pretty funny, but took a while to clean up. There were a lot of balloons to pop and a lot of rubber to sweep up after murdering the colorful spheres. Although the tidying up was a time consuming project, I couldn't help but think about how long it took M2 and Sonny Boy to blow up all these balloons, just to get a giggle from their Dad. That's pretty special folks, and that's one of the things that makes having a family so worthwhile.

Both my kiddos are doing well, with my daughter working on her Masters in Psychology. She has attended several seminars in the last few weeks, presenting her research projects. The picture below is her latest from last week. The hand gesture is a "school thing."

Sonny Boy is nearing his undergrad degree, also in psychology. He's tutoring at the school and working at Toys-R-Us on weekends.

Although they've grown into adults and I'm proud of them both, I still picture them as much younger and in need of dear 'ol Dad's direction and advise. Maybe not so much anymore.

But, if they think enough of me to pull off this April Fool's prank, I must have done something right :)
