I found my old 1970s
Montgomery Ward boom box under a desk while cleaning up our warehouse at work. I was hoping it would still work and it did, even the cassette player!
How scary is it that I still had a few cassette tapes around to test the player.
The best news is that the radio still works ... sort of.
Problem is that it only plays disco tunes, but "that's the way, uh huh,
uh huh, I like it, uh huh, uh huh!"
Yep -- I still have the debut album by KC and the Sunshine Band.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling me some Disco Inferno right about now. Burn baby burn ...
Play that funky music white boy!
DeleteI have this vision of you transiting the warehouse in you leisure suit -- polyester glowing -- with the boombox on your shoulder. I especially like the shirt with the gaudy flowers and super wide lapels.
ReplyDeleteOoowa, OooWa. Get down tonight!
Don't forget the chains Ken. Gotta sport the bling for the ladies!
DeleteI bet you bought those at Monkey Wards, too.
DeleteMy old Wards AC is still keeping me cool. I've junked two other more recent ones. They don't build em like they use too. Of course that can be a two way street.
Look closer in the area. I think you might also find your BetaMax.
ReplyDeleteAhh yes, there it is, right behind my 8 track player :)
