MLB Picks, August 1st

There are a couple of NL games on the docket today that look good.

$20 on Milwaukee (Fiers) over Houston (Lyles) -1 1/2 @ -$120

I'm not thrilled with the price on this game, but Houston has been nothing short of awful on the road this year, posting an incredible 10-43 record. Fiers takes the ball for the Brew Crew and brings a 1.77 ERA to the dance. He's been even better lately, sporting a 3-2 record with a tiny 0.95 ERA in his last seven starts. The Astros counter with Lyles who is a perfect 0-5 on the highway with a 6.97 ERA. In his last five starts he is 0-3, 8.16. Houston has lost 25 of their last 28 games. Caesars has the best line on this one.

$10 on St. Louis (Westbrook) over Colorado (Pomeranz) -1 1/2 @ +$125

The Redbirds send Westbrook to the bump tonight with a 2-1 record and a 2.95 ERA in his last three starts. The Rockies will give a struggling Pomeranz another try. The southpaw is 0-4 with a 4.31 ERA at home this season and is 0-3, 10.13 in his last three outings. St.Louis is 20-11 against leftys this season, has won 8 of their last 11 games overall, and is 4-1 against Colorado. LVH has the best line.
