World Series, Poker, Vegas, Anniversary, Birth, Death, Christmas...That About Covers it

Season's Greetings to all from deep in the heart of Texas!

Since I haven't posted anything of substance in a while, I thought i would take a few moments to share what's been going on around the Duck household.

Ms. Duck and I took our daughter and her boyfriend to Game 2 of the World Series in Houston. It was a tight game until the Nats blew it open late, winning 12-3. Although it was a disappointing result, we had a grand time and brought home some special memories.

The poker league I belong to has gone well thus far. We have completed eight of the 12 league tournaments and I am currently leading the league after placing second in the December tourney. First and second place both receive a trip to Las Vegas and a buy in to a $1,000 WSOP tournament, so I'm hoping to hold on the last third of the season and secure a trip.

Speaking of Las Vegas, last week Ms. Duck and I decided to take a quick five day trip there, leaving on New Year's Day. December 27th is our 39th anniversary and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than spending a few days at our "second home."

The big news is the expected arrival in April of our first grandchild. There is a "gender reveal" party scheduled tomorrow, so we will learn then whether to buy pink or blue.

We almost always travel to southeast Texas for Christmas to visit Ms. Duck's family, but her mother passed away in the summer, so we will stay home this year. Our son and his wife drove down from Lubbock (a 5 1/2 hour drive) and are staying through Sunday. Our daughter in law began her job as an occupational therapist recently, which makes her low woman on the totem pole, thus she has to work on Christmas, so we will celebrate tomorrow.

I hope each of you have a wonderful holiday season, surrounded by family, friends, laughter and joy. May your 2020 be filled with pocket aces (that actually hold up) and that you don't get out drawn on the river. :)

Merry Christmas!

  1. I am surprised that they still let you play since you have won a prize so many years in a row. How many is it? Have a great Christmas!
