Happy New Year!

I hope all of you have a happy and healthy 2016!

Looking back at 2015, it was an overall good year for the Duck family.

Both my kids received college degrees, with Sonny Boy getting his undergrad in September and my daughter her masters three weeks ago.

In addition, my daughter got engaged early in the year with an April wedding coming up fast. She is currently in South Korea with her fiancée, which is a great experience.

My mother continues to struggle with health issues, but goes to rehab twice a week to keep her strength up. I can't help but admire her fighting spirit! So far, the cancer has not returned.

On the downside, I did lose a friend this summer. He was in a bad auto accident seven years ago, which left him a quadriplegic. His positive attitude and warrior spirit were nothing less than inspiring, but the constant infections finally got the best of him. What an honor to have known him.

Ms. Duck and I celebrated our 35th anniversary last Sunday and will take a trip to one of the casinos next month as a combined gift. Should be fun!

My small business continues to thrive, with one of our biggest competitors wanting to buy us out. I've been self-employed since 1984 and didn't feel I would adjust well to someone else running the show, so I declined. But I consider it quite a compliment.

And I did get to play in another WSOP event last summer, although it was my worst showing, I still had a lot of fun :)

As always, I appreciate your stopping by my little corner of the world. Thank you.

May the wind be at your back in the coming year.

  1. Good to see your mom is still around. Every extra day with mine is just a blessing. Congrats on having kids make it through college. Hopefully by May I will have one child with a bachelors, one with one year to go, and one with a year to go in her associate degree career program.
