April 23, 2010, a day that will go down in infamy... or something like that. One year ago today "Small Potatoes Poker" was launched. If you're so inclined, here's a link to my first post.
I believe I had three hits my first day (thanks Honey, thanks Mom), but Very Josie added me to her blogroll and my traffic increased almost immediately. Thanks Josie! Before long I was getting comments from lightning, MOJO, G-Man and Wolfman on a regular basis. And of course, Josie. Occasionally waffles put put in his two cents worth, along with Neo.
Some of the coolest things about blogging has been the blogger tourneys and the freerolls provided by the poker sites. I guess those will only be a memory, at least for a while, although heffmike has come up with an interesting idea involving Paypal. We'll see.
Meeting lightning and the neophyte in Vegas last spring was certainly a highlight, one that never would have happened without this blog. Three guys with different backgrounds, from different parts of the country, but we spent our time together talking about what we had in common. Our families, our love/hate for the game of poker, and our blogs. Fun times!
And it's been a good year of poker for me, with my crowning achievement winning an online poker league against a tough field, about half of them pros and one of them a recent WPT Player of the Year. First place was a seat at the WSOP (event 54) where I finished around 450th out of almost 3900 players.
I've learned that you can never tell how people will react to your posts and which subject will be the most popular. "McFelted" and "Super Bowl XXX" received the most hits. Who knew? Although the "XXX" might have been the result of a search for porn :)
Anyhoo, thanks to all of you that continue to read my drivel, I appreciate it. And a special thank you to my seven "followers." I hope you'll all stick with me for another year.
Till next time, win the flips.
Congrats Lucki and it was great to meet you too. Keep putting XXX in your blog titles and I'll keep coming around.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! I hope to read many more.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the one year anniversary! As you add a few more years, you will find that it gets really fun to look back at all that happened the previous years.
ReplyDeleteLas Vegas was great -- one of the most fun trips I have had.
Best o' luck in killing your home game the rest of the year.
